Hoola Jewelry donates a significant portion of its profits to the Rafiki Foundation , an organization whose mission is to "befriend orphans and widows in their distress" (James 1:27). Rafiki is at work in ten African countries, bringing both material and spiritual sustenance to those in need. Rafiki's Training Villages provide living, educational, and medical facilities through four programs: Childcare, Education, Training, and Widows.
Founder Laurie Gravelyn explains: "My daughter Lauren and I were shocked to realize that there are 42 million orphans in Africa. We pictured the University of Michigan stadium—and then we imagined 385 stadiums filled with children without mothers or fathers. We felt impelled to reach out and help." In the past few years Hoola Jewelry has been able to send thousands of dollars to Rafiki, where their mission statement is to "turn helpless children into godly contributors to the world."
As you can see, there's more to Hoola than jewelry! Our primary purpose is to create opportunity for women here in the United States. At the same time, we are sharing the financial blessings we receive with African children and widows who live in desperate situations. The moment you become part of our Hoola family, whether as a customer, a Hostess or a Design Representative, you increase this contribution to the lives of others at home and abroad.
